Is to empower residents with community development initiatives such as affordable housing, foreclosure prevention, first time home buyer education, financial literacy, business and youth development.

Es empoderar a los residentes con iniciativas de desarrollo comunitario tales como viviendas economicas, prevencion de embargos, talleres a primeros compradores, educacion financiera, desarrollo de negocios y juvenil.

About ACT / Acerca de ACT

Arlington Community Trabajando (ACT), founded in 1996, is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit community development corporation with a strong base in north Lawrence’s Arlington neighborhood.   Our programs serve the needs of the Lawrence population, targeting low to moderate-income residents requiring services provided in English and/or Spanish.  Our current services include home ownership education, financial literacy, foreclosure prevention and youth leadership. 

Arlington Community Trabajando (ACT), fue fundada en el 1996, y es una corporacion de desarrollo comunitario, sin fines de lucros con nuestra base en la vecindad Arlington de la ciudad de Lawrence.  Nuestros programas sirven las necesidades de la poblacion, enfocada en personas de ingresos bajos y moderados quienes buscan servicios en Ingles y Espanol.  Nuestros servicios incluyen talleres a primeros compradores, educacion financiera, prevencion de embargos y liderazgo juvenil.  

ACT History/ Nuestra Historia

The residents of the Arlington District in Lawrence, MA formed Arlington Community Trabajando in the fall of 1996. The catalyst for the establishment of the organization was the Malden Mills fire, which threatened to leave unemployed 50% of the residents and the October 1996 Spicket River Floods that caused severe damage to homes along the river. Since then, ACT has been organizing the community around issues of importance to area residents and developing programs that benefit and empower this community.

Los residentes del vecindario Arlington formaron  Arlington Community Trabajando en el otoño de 1996.  Nuestro catalizador para establecernos fue el fuego de Malden Mills, el cual puso en riesgo en dejar sin trabajos a mas de 50% de los residentes y ademas las inundaciones del rio Spicket en el 1996.  Desde la fecha, ACT ha organizado nuestra comunidad acerca de temas importantes al igual que desarrollamos programas para beneficiar nuestra comunidad.
